About Me

Jennifer Nelson, MACP

I provide clients with the space to express themselves fully so they can be as open as they are comfortable with.  My approach is rooted in empathy and connection, as research consistently shows that the quality of the relationship between therapist and client – often called the therapeutic alliance – is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy.

Grow through what you go through.

With a broad range of life experiences, I connect meaningfully with people from all walks of life and value the nuances of different perspectives.  I’ve had jobs in customer service, academia, public education, and was even a flight attendant for a short while.  As a parent of three and a grandparent of two, I bring perspective and insight on parenting to my work.  My combination of formal education and life experience positions me to be a particularly effective therapist.

Counselling for Individuals

Personal and relational challenges can arise from many sources, including anxiety, self-esteem struggles, past experiences, chronic health issues and pain, workplace dynamics, and exclusion for questioning certain norms or ideologies. At Tall Cedars, therapy offers a supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment, helping to foster greater clarity, emotional strength, and lasting confidence.

Explore challenges, build resilience, & reconnect with your authentic self.

Couples Counselling

I use The Gottman Method – a research-based approach to couples therapy that focuses on strengthening relationships through practical, evidence-based strategies. Developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, this method helps partners improve communication, deepen emotional connection, and navigate conflict in a constructive way. By fostering trust, intimacy, and mutual understanding, Gottman Couples Therapy empowers couples to build lasting, healthy relationships.

Jennifer has completed certification in Levels 1, 2, and 3 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
